Welcome to basic sepsis research!

The Septomics Research Center

The Centre for Innovation Competence (ZIK) Septomics is a cross-faculty research centre of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, and it is scientifically associated with Jena University Hospital and the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute. Septomics is taking an integrated research approach in order to end decades of stagnation in the field of sepsis research. Hence, basic researchers and physicians work closely together to develop a holistic model of sepsis. This will serve as a basis for new molecular diagnostic and therapeutic tools.

Septomics is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) within the scope of the programme "Zentren für Innovationskompetenz: Exzellenz schaffen - Talente fördern". Additionally, the state of Thuringia supports Septomics with financing the Clinical Septomics group as well as the new laboratory building.

Sepsis research at the ZIK Septomics will be expanded

Septomics together with the BMBF is searching for a junior research group leader "Host-Fungal-Interfaces" and a clinically oriented junior research group leader "Translational Septomics".
