"Entstehung einer künstlerischen Tatsache"

As part of the Jena art project "Entstehung einer künstlerischen Tatsache" (Emergence of an Artistic Fact), scientists from the junior research group Host Fungal Interfaces and the research group headed by Prof. Ilse Jacobsen at Leibniz-HKI entered into dialogue with the artist Masami Saito over the summer. The Erfurt-based artist Masami Saito directs her gaze into the interior of the human body. She is interested in microorganisms, including the yeast Candida albicans, that colonize the human gut. In her versatile artworks, including installations and graphics, she combines her experiences from the lab with the impressions she gathered during her stay in the city of Jena. The exhibition, in which Masami Saito presents her artworks together with four other artists, is on display at TRAFO Jena, Nollendorfer Str. 30, until November 6, 2021.
